On May 13, 2021, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited the UA30 Cyber center to organize a team and promote the protection of national information sources. Among such resources are state registers, digital services, and information systems of critical enterprises. The head of state also had the opportunity to see how the Government's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-UA), located in the Cyber center, works.
According to Yuri Shchigol, the function of CERT-UA is to detect, study cyber incidents, and exchange information with public and private sector experts. Currently, it is the only FIRST-accredited union in Ukraine that can interact productively with response teams from 97 countries.
This environment is increasingly developed and multifaceted because there is a cyber training center designed to reproduce real cyberattacks in the training center. It should be noted that UA30 boosts international partnership because there are only near 20 such platforms in the world, six of which are in the United States.
The President thanked all the employees of the cyber center for creating the possibility to invest in a business in IT: “These are modern professional young people. In general, this is an example of the fact that Ukraine is changing not just in words. This is the first such center in Ukraine, and it is a great start. We will continue," the Head of State said.
Moreover, the head of state noted that he would create a special educational institution in Ukraine that would train cybersecurity specialists because it’s the best realization of investments into the country.
"We have big plans to train such specialists. In addition to the center, we are preparing to open a university to train specialists in the field of cybersecurity. We will present it soon. Ukraine should raise such specialists from the age of 15-16 so that they do not go anywhere. Offer them a job, and they will provide us with a safe life," the President announced.
