As you know, one of the main goals of the government is to provide 95% of transport infrastructure and settlements with high-speed internet till 2024. At the end of last year was known that the budget for 2021 included ₴ 500 million for connection to high-speed fixed internet using the latest technology of fiber-optic communications for about 6,000 social facilities in rural areas. And now the Ministry of Culture has launched a separate site, which collects all the information about connecting villages to the optical Internet.
The site contains a dashboard with real-time statistics. The panel contains filters that allow you to quickly find the information you need. As for now, 622 communities have applied for 4,066 villages and 12,974 social infrastructure facilities — schools, kindergartens, libraries, hospitals. On the same dashboard, you can check whether the village can apply for funds from the state budget and connect to the optical Internet.
The Internet subvention project was preceded by a study by the Ministry of culture conducted in 2019-2020. This time, the results saw that in more than 15,000 villages, where live about 3.5 million Ukrainians, there is no high-speed fixed Internet coverage. According to the Ministry of finance, the project will allow more than 1 million Ukrainians to access optical Internet for the first time and bring it one-third closer to the main goal — 95% of Ukrainians have access to high-speed Internet 24/7.
