The UN Registered 21.965 Civilian Victims of the War

The data is preliminary and does not cover the tragedies in the temporarily occupied territories

The UN has published a new report on the war in Ukraine. As of March 12, 2023, the organisation recorded 21.965 victims. These are all ordinary people who suffered from the Russian invaders. It is noted that this figure includes the wounded and dead. The UN said that the indicator of the dead Ukrainians from the actions of the Russian Federation crossed the threshold of 8.000 dead. The UN says the total death toll is higher. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights notes that it is impossible to assess the situation in territories with an active combat phase and occupied areas. Some people have disappeared with unconfirmed losses.

However, the Russian military has so far harmed 13.734 people and killed 8.231. The report refers to 3.664 men, 2.173 women, 260 boys, and 203 girls who died. There are also situations when gender could not be established: 31 children, 1.900 adults.

In addition, the Russian army continues to torture and execute Ukrainian soldiers, violating international law. However, losses among the civilian population and critical infrastructure make it clear that Moscow is waging war on freedom, independence, and ordinary Ukrainians.
