On May 18, the full staff of the United States Embassy in Ukraine resumed its work in Ukraine. The information is confirmed by Reuters.
On February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine. A few days and weeks before this, embassies had begun to move to a safer part of Ukraine — the west, or to Poland. Some ambassadors, for example, the ambassador of Poland and the Vatican, did not leave Kyiv for a day. The US embassy left Kyiv 2 weeks before the start of the war: first to Lviv, then to Poland.
"We will listen to the security professionals and when they tell us we can go back, we will go back," chargé d'affaires Christina Quinn.
Today, all embassies have returned to Ukraine, including the UK, Canada, Israel, the countries of the European Union, and the EU embassy headed by Matti Maasikas.
We remind you that on April 25, president Joe Biden appointed the US Ambassador to Ukraine and Bridget Ann Brink became her. Before that, there was no ambassador in Ukraine due to the policy of Donald Trump.
