The number of medium-range "air-air" missiles is unknown, but the signed contract cost more than $190.000. The Security Assistance Initiative in Ukraine allocated this money to AMRAAM. The second side of the contract was Raytheon Missiles and Defence. According to the document, the company will complete the construction of all missiles in the middle of autumn 2024.
These missiles, AMRAAM, are in the service of the armies of the USA, Great Britain, Germany and other NATO countries. Medium-range weapons can be used for anti-aircraft missile systems, NASAMS and planes, including F-16. The advantage of these rockets is that they have super-precision in targeting. Moreover, AMRAAM can be used in all weather conditions. The acquisition of such missiles significantly strengthens the defence capability of the Ukrainian army and the protection of Ukrainian cities. The range of destruction is from 40 to 180 km, depending on the weapons from which the missiles are fired.
"The further, the safer for our pilots, and the more dangerous for our enemies," the spokesman for the air force command of the armed forces of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, reacted to the American contract.
