The ports of South Louisiana and New Orleans will assist in restoring the maritime infrastructure of Ukraine destroyed during the war. 1st of all, the restoration of the port in Odesa will begin. Recall that in July, the armed forces of the Russian Federation during the week launched missile attacks on Odesa, including the industrial and commercial ports of Ukraine.
According to the agreement, Ukrainian and American specialists will carry out technical planning, development and construction plans for the destroyed ports. After that, the ports of America will also help Ukrainian ports to improve the administration, operation and maintenance of infrastructure.
“As two of the world's leading grain exporters, the farmers and workers of the United States and Ukraine are tough and take pride in their role in feeding the world. This agreement solidifies Port of South Louisiana’s support for the Ukrainian people in the defence of their freedom and creates an alliance with our Ukrainian port partners that focuses on our shared mission of serving global customers and creating economic prosperity for our communities," Paul Matthews, CEO of Port of South Louisiana.
Such cooperation is a significant indicator of the importance of Ukrainian grain. The USA and Ukraine are still world leaders in grain exports.
