Ukraine and Albania open road transport under simplified rules

The agreement removes extra permits for trucks and buses and strengthens links with Southeast Europe

Ukraine and Albania have signed an agreement on international road transport that opens a simpler framework for freight and passenger services between the two countries. The document is intended to reduce administrative barriers and make direct and transit trips easier for Ukrainian and Albanian carriers.

The key change is the removal of additional permits for trucks and buses. For logistics companies, this means fewer delays, clearer planning and wider access to routes connecting Ukraine with Southeast Europe.

New logistics channel

The agreement effectively introduces a transport liberalization regime for freight traffic. It can support Ukrainian exporters, carriers and businesses that need more flexible routes while traditional corridors remain under pressure.

The parties also plan to create a mixed commission that will coordinate cooperation, exchange statistics and monitor how the new rules work in practice. For Ukraine, the deal adds another practical link to European transport networks and gives business an additional route for moving goods and people.
