UK to Supply Ukraine with 160 Husky TSV Armored Vehicles in New Military Aid Package

The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with 160 Husky Tactical Support Vehicles (TSV) as part of a new £500 million military aid package, announced British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

These vehicles are part of the MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) class and have been effectively used by the Ukrainian forces since 2022.

The comprehensive aid package, the largest since London's previous commitments, includes not only the Husky armored vehicles but also 1,600 missiles, which feature anti-aircraft and high-precision Storm Shadow missiles. Additionally, the package will provide 78 all-terrain vehicles, 60 combat boats, and approximately 4 million rounds of ammunition for small arms.

The Husky TSV, developed by American company Navistar Defense in the early 2000s based on the International MXT 4x4 light truck chassis, is known for its high mobility and adaptability in field armor customization. It offers enhanced protection against improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and mines. The vehicle's modular armor can be adjusted depending on the mission, using special hanging modules.

Specifications of the Husky TSV include:

  • Length: 6.4 meters
  • Height: 2.5 meters
  • Width: 2.4 meters
  • Weight: almost 7,000 kilograms
  • Crew capacity: 4 persons
  • Armament: Options for a 12.7 mm machine gun or an automatic grenade launcher
  • Engine: International VT 365 with 325 horsepower or a 6.0-liter MaxxForce engine producing 340 horsepower
