Ukraine and Denmark Sign Agreement on Energy Partnership Program

On July 7, in Vilnius on the sidelines of the Fourth Conference on reforms in Ukraine, minister of energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko and minister of foreign affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Jeppe Kofod signed an agreement on cooperation in the framework of the Ukrainian-Danish Energy Partnership Program in 2021-2026

The agreement will be a new stage in deepening intergovernmental cooperation that will focus on strengthening the environment for sustainable energy solutions and technologies based on Danish expertise and technical assistance, as well as opportunities for green energy companies.

"Denmark is one of the European leaders in making the transition to green energy. Ukraine, for its part, shares the goals of the European green course. Therefore, I see significant potential for deepening cooperation between our states in the development of renewable energy sources and strengthening energy security", said Herman Halushchenko.

Ukraine is making significant efforts to implement projects aimed at reducing traditional energy consumption, improving energy efficiency, and introducing energy-saving technologies. The draft of the national action plan on energy efficiency, developed by the Ministry of Energy, provides for a reduction in final energy consumption by more than 17% by 2030.

The Danish energy agency will contribute in the form of consultations, technical assistance, and mutual training of specialists from the Ukrainian energy sector.
