Final Screening Completed
Ukraine and the European Commission have officially completed the screening process of the last negotiation cluster on EU accession. The discussions in Brussels focused on Chapter 11: Agriculture and Rural Development, marking the conclusion of bilateral screening meetings.
Over the course of three days, the Ukrainian delegation presented 28 thematic blocks, including reforms in agriculture, digitalization, state support, market regulation, and rural development.
Progress in Agriculture and EU Alignment
The delegation outlined the degree of harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with the EU acquis in several areas:
-
Horizontal issues: financial and administrative structures
-
Agricultural markets and market regulation
-
Quality policy and standards
-
Organic production and certification
-
Promotion of agricultural products
Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Denys Bashlyk noted:
“These discussions showed two key things: we have already achieved significant progress in approximating agricultural policy to EU standards, but there is still a lot of work ahead. The accession process requires joint efforts and close coordination. Ukraine is ready to follow this path.”
Next Steps in EU Accession
-
In September 2025, Ukraine will undergo official screening under Cluster 5: Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion Policy, which includes three negotiation chapters.
-
Cluster 5 is the final of six clusters in the bilateral screening process.
-
The outcome will shape the roadmap for implementing EU regulations into Ukrainian legislation.
The completion of screening represents the starting point of full-scale accession negotiations, bringing Ukraine closer to EU membership.
