Ukraine and Japan Advance Economic and Environmental Collaboration with New Agreements

Ukraine and Japan have taken significant steps to enhance their economic and environmental partnership through the signing of the Convention on the Elimination of Double Taxation regarding income taxes and the prevention of tax evasion and avoidance, accompanied by a related Protocol

This pivotal agreement, aimed at fostering investment and bolstering economic ties between the two nations, was announced by the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

Furthermore, Ukraine's integration into Japan's Joint Crediting Mechanism heralds a new era of collaboration in decarbonizing various economic sectors. This initiative is set to channel Japanese investments into Ukrainian decarbonization projects, leveraging advanced technologies for a green recovery and supporting Ukraine's resilience against the impacts of armed aggression. The mechanism, operational in 28 countries and boasting 236 registered projects over a decade, exemplifies successful international cooperation in environmental sustainability and technological advancement.

These agreements, signed during a Ukrainian-Japanese economic development and reconstruction conference in Tokyo, underscore the mutual commitment to economic growth, environmental protection, and the shared vision for a sustainable future.
