In January-June 2021, the total volume of rail freight traffic between Ukraine and Poland amounted to 5.56 million tons, which is 22% more than in the same period in 2020.
It is noted that Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian state enterprise, joint-stock company since 2018, the main field of activity of which is railway transportation) exports iron and manganese ore from Ukraine by rail to Poland. Ukraine exports to Poland most of all agricultural products (28.3%), metallurgy (18%), mineral products (17.4%), woodworking products (9.9%), and electromechanical industries (7.7%).
In January-June this year, the volume of import traffic between Ukraine and Poland increased by 98%, incoming transit traffic — by 94%, outgoing — by 21.7%.
For six months of 2021, 27.757 containers were transported between the countries, which is 77.2% more than the same period last year.
In January-February 2021, Ukraine imported 58.37 thousand tons of potatoes. Ukraine is one of the largest recipients of Polish food products. The export of agricultural products to Ukraine increased by more than 20%.
Promising for the development of business and economic growth of both countries is participation in collaborative production processes, the creation of clusters that will help build long-term business alliances and establish supply chains. In addition, given the European "green course" supported by Ukraine, cooperation in organic production is promising. Ukraine is one of the leaders in terms of growth in organic production in Europe and opens up new opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two countries.
