Ukraine and Slovakia agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation

The countries are interested in energy cooperation, regional, local cooperation and improving conditions for citizens in the border regions

The parties agreed on the maximum use of the transit potential of the countries. "Today we have agreed on the need to intensify our bilateral cooperation. Holding the next fifth meeting of the Ukrainian-Slovak mixed commission on economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation will be an important step in assessing the state of trade between our countries," Shmygal said at a joint briefing on Friday in Kyiv with the Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine also noted that the introduction of the joint border and customs control at the border is very important for both countries.

The head of the Slovak Government assured that Ukraine has Slovakia's support for reforms that will make Ukraine more resilient, both internally and externally, and that will bring it closer to the EU.

Heger also noted that the countries want to renew the development of trade relations, from which both sides will benefit.

Moreover, the two sides agreed that the countries' cooperation in employment and labor migration requires additional government attention.
