January 2024 marked a pivotal moment as Sweden's government authorized its Defense Material Administration to finalize an agreement for exporting CV-90 IFVs to Ukraine. This development is poised to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities significantly and pave the way for an extensive defense industrial collaboration between the two nations.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Dmytro Klimenkov, highlighted the strategic importance of this agreement, noting its potential to transcend beyond a mere transaction to include broader cooperation in defense manufacturing. Importantly, it opens the prospect of localizing part of the production process within Ukraine, signifying a long-term partnership in defense innovation and production between Ukraine and Sweden.
