Ukraine Begins Mass Production of 3,000 km-Range Flamingo Cruise Missile

New long-range platform boosts strategic strike capabilities and domestic defense manufacturing scale

Ukraine has officially launched serial production of its domestically designed Flamingo cruise missile, capable of striking targets up to 3,000 km away. According to Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, the missile carries a 1-ton warhead, reaches speeds of 950 km/h, and is engineered to resist Russian electronic warfare — enabling effective precision strikes deep behind enemy lines.

Developed by Ukrainian defense firm Fire Point, Flamingo strengthens the country’s long-range deterrence and reflects a rapid expansion of sovereign arms production. The move follows recent codification of locally built unmanned combat systems like the Khyzhak module, underscoring Kyiv’s commitment to scaling its military-industrial base amid growing international defense partnerships.
