Ukraine Boosts Domestic Gas Production with Two New High-Output Wells

“Ukrgazvydobuvannya,” a subsidiary of Naftogaz of Ukraine, has successfully commenced operations at two new high-capacity gas wells this week, each delivering a substantial output of 550,000 cubic meters of gas daily

Located in newly identified promising fields, these wells represent a significant step forward in Ukraine's efforts to enhance its domestic gas production capabilities.

Naftogaz of Ukraine has expressed its commitment to continue expanding its natural gas production throughout 2024, leveraging advanced technologies implemented by Ukrgazvydobuvannya. The press release from Naftogaz highlighted the ambitious strategy for the current year, which includes the activation of 86 new wells, 24 of which are expected to have an initial flow rate exceeding 100,000 cubic meters per day.

Oleksiy Chernyshov, the CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine, emphasized the strategic importance of these developments, noting that the upcoming winter will mark the first season Ukraine can rely entirely on its domestically produced gas, eliminating the need for imports. With a targeted 7% increase in gas production for the year and an aim to achieve a total of 14 billion cubic meters from Naftogaz alone, the focus is also on encouraging production growth within private sector companies.
