Ukraine has resumed corn exports to Algeria for the first time since 2023. In the 2025 and 2026 marketing season, NIBULON shipped Ukrainian corn to Algeria’s state company ONAB through direct participation in public tenders.
The company says four vessels were loaded with a combined volume of one hundred twenty two thousand tonnes of grain. That accounted for more than eighty percent of all Ukrainian corn purchased by Algeria in the current season.
North Africa returns to the export map
The deal is important not only because of the volume. Algeria is a demanding state-tender market, and direct participation there helps Ukrainian exporters diversify beyond traditional routes and buyers.
For Ukraine, the restoration of corn shipments to Algeria supports a broader strategy of rebuilding presence in North Africa. This region is sensitive to food security, logistics reliability and price competition, so every successful shipment strengthens the credibility of Ukrainian suppliers.
The wider corn export picture remains mixed, with total shipments lower than in the previous season. That makes targeted market recovery especially important. If Ukrainian traders can combine tender discipline, maritime logistics and consistent quality, Algeria may again become a meaningful destination for Ukrainian corn.
