Ukraine has named the leaders of its 2026 dairy productivity ranking, highlighting farms that continue to invest in genetics, animal care and production technology despite wartime pressure. The ranking measured lifetime milk output and the potential of younger cows.
The absolute leader was a cow from Chernihiv region whose lifetime production exceeded one hundred forty one tonnes of milk. Other farms also showed strong long-term results, with several animals passing the one hundred tonne mark.
Technology behind the records
The results reflect years of selection work, stable feeding programs, veterinary control and modern dairy management. For farms, high productivity is not only a biological achievement but also a business indicator: it lowers unit costs and supports processing supply chains.
The ranking also included a separate category for promising younger animals. Their results show which herds may generate the next wave of Ukrainian dairy records.
The sector still faces problems, including high production costs, weak purchase prices and a shrinking cattle population. But the record holders show that parts of the industry remain capable of world-class performance when farms combine genetics, discipline and investment.
