Ukrainian exporters of frozen raspberries are among the 10 largest suppliers to the United States. Having tripled the export of this type of product, Ukraine took 8th place after Mexico, Chile and Serbia.
The US and Canada are the largest importers of raspberries in the world. Ukraine began cooperating with them in 2021, which greatly supported our country's economy in the run-up to a full-scale Russian attack. Previously, Ukraine sent most of the raspberries and other berries to Poland, which exports products to the UK, the USA and Canada with VAT. After the onset of the general crisis, prices for berries in Europe fell by 2 times and in the USA and Canada by 10-15%. Trading with the US and Canada directly is beneficial to all market participants.
"In other words, frozen raspberry importers in the US are willing to pay a high price for a quality product," Andriy Yarmak, an economist at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's investment department.
In May-June 2023, the US imported about 23.5000 tons of frozen raspberries.
