Ukraine Got 1.1 Mln Iranian Bullets

Washington handed over confiscated Iranian ammunition to Kyiv

The USA Central Command reported that ammunition confiscated by the Navy from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in 2022 found new owners: 1.1 million rounds of 7.62 mm calibre were transferred to Ukraine.

It is known that on December 9, 2022, the cartridges were seized due to a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216 from the ship that was heading to the recipient in Yemen (to the Houthis). On July 20, 2023, the USA received ownership rights following the decision as part of a civil lawsuit by the Ministry of justice to confiscate weapons. On this legal basis, the state could transfer ammunition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is reported that the administration of Joe Biden wants to repeat this practice because he believes it will help solve the problem of lack of ammunition in Ukraine.

"The US is committed to working with our allies and partners to counter the flow of Iranian lethal aid in the region by all lawful means including US and UN sanctions and through interdictions," the Central Command.
