Ukraine has Imported Over 1 Million Tons of Coal

Since the beginning of the heating season, more than 1 million tons of imported coal have arrived in Ukraine

Energy minister Herman Halushchenko announced this information.

“If we talk about the coal that was supplied during the heating season, this is already more than 1 million tons,” Halushchenko said.

He also said that the Ministry of energy expects the arrival of 650 thousand tons of coal by the sea in December.

According to the official, at present, there is a systematic supply of coal to the warehouses of thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants.

“At three stations, the balance of coal corresponds to guaranteed reserves, even exceeds. In general, we see a systemic accumulation of coal in the warehouses of thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants,” added Halushchenko.

The minister also stressed that the only reason for the lack of power supply in some settlements is the scheduled or emergency repairs by the distribution system operators. There is no electricity deficit in the country today.

“We consider it unacceptable to carry out work with a power outage during the heating season without providing alternative power to consumers,” the official emphasized.

He stressed that scheduled repairs during the heating season are unacceptable.

It is worth reminding that last week three ships with coal came to the Ukrainian ports: two — to the port of Chernomorsk, and one — to the port of Pivdenny. Bulk carriers delivered over 200 thousand tons of coal.
