Ukraine Hits Record Export Volume in April

Yuliya Svyridenko, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, announced that Ukraine achieved a record export volume last month

Exports exceeded 13 million tons, surpassing the performance of February 2022, with a total value of $3.3 billion for April.

"The government's efforts to restore and boost exports, in collaboration with our international partners, are proving highly effective. April saw a record export volume of 13.1 million tons since the onset of the large-scale Russian invasion, an increase of 1.3 million tons from March and exceeding the figures of February 2022," stated Svyridenko.

She highlighted that the record was achieved partly due to the establishment of an alternative sea corridor last summer, facilitating the export of grain and metal products. The UNITY ship insurance program, developed in partnership with the British government and insurance companies, and the expansion of the Solidarity Lines, especially with Moldova and Romania, along with improved rail transport to Danube ports, also significantly contributed to this success.

In a related development on March 1 in London, during a visit by the Ukrainian delegation, it was announced that the UNITY ship insurance program would be expanded to cover all non-military cargoes, including metals and container shipments, further bolstering Ukraine’s export capabilities.
