A medical facility in Poltava region receives new autonomous capacity for critical departments

Ukraine’s healthcare infrastructure is moving deeper into practical energy resilience. A new stage of the support program for hospitals has delivered a solar power station to the Lubny intensive care hospital in Poltava region, giving the facility another layer of protection against power disruptions.

The project was implemented by Garnier together with the Spanbond charitable foundation. The hospital received a rooftop solar station with total capacity of eighty kilowatts. For a cluster medical facility that serves Lubny district and nearby communities, this is not only an environmental upgrade but a continuity measure for everyday medical work.

Power security becomes part of healthcare

The station includes 133 solar panels and is designed to reduce dependence on the central grid. In practical terms, it should help intensive care units, operating rooms and other critical systems keep working even during outages. That matters because energy interruptions in healthcare are not an abstract infrastructure risk. They can affect surgeries, emergency care and life-support equipment.

The program began at the end of 2022 as a response to the pressure on Ukrainian medical institutions. Earlier stages provided backup power systems, while the new wave adds long-term autonomous generation. The hospital also expects economic benefits: lower operating costs can free resources for patient care and service improvements.

For Ukraine, such projects show how business, donors and local medical institutions can build resilience through targeted infrastructure rather than one-time aid. The model is likely to remain relevant as hospitals prepare for continued pressure on the energy system and seek predictable tools for uninterrupted work.
