On March 10, an emergency EU summit was held in Versailles on the issues of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The question of Ukraine joining the economic and political union was also discussed.
The summit lasted 5 hours. As a result, the leaders are ready to start the process of Ukrainian European integration.
But this does not mean that Ukraine is in the European Union.
"On February 28, 2022, the president of Ukraine, exercising the right of Ukraine to choose its destiny, submitted Ukraine’s application to join the European Union. The EU Council promptly invited the European Commission to present its conclusion on this application in accordance with the relevant provisions of the EU Treaties. Right now, before approving this conclusion, we will further strengthen our ties and deepen our partnership to support Ukraine on its European path. Ukraine belongs to our European family," the representatives of EU said as a conclusion.
