15-16 of June on Kyiv was held International aerospace exhibition Aviaworld-XI. The Noosphere association held the V Grand Final of the Vernadsky Challenge engineering startups competition as part of the aerospace show.
According to Liga.Tech resourse, there were 132 startups from different countries: 43 from Ukraine and 89 from other countries. The finalists were from 6 countries: Ukraine, USA, Spain, Sweden, Slovakia and Canada.
The Provizio team, ranked the 2nd, introduced an intraocular pressure measuring device to delay or avoid vision loss. Provizio’s real-time software alerts the physician to changes in pressure and offers optimal options for treating the patient.
The Medicsen team, Spain, won 1 place and a grant of $37,000. The invention of the winning team is the invention of which opens micropores in human skin for the administration of drugs with large molecule size (e.g., insulin) without the use of needles or other chemical instruments.
Vernadsky Challenge was founded by Ukrainian Maksym Poliakov in 2015. During the VC’s existence, 600 teams from 36 countries participated in the competition. The main profiles of the competition are space technologies and active bioelectronics.
In 2017, Jamie Heineman, an epochal mythbuster, became a member of the Vernadsky Challenge jury. In 2021, the jury team was composed by CEO and founder of D-orbit Luca Rossettini, president and founder of the Swiss Space Tourism Association Boris Otter, executive director and founder of Thynk Ise Goldwasser, investment manager of High-Tech Gründerfonds Management Christian Ziah.
