The purpose of the campaign is a large-scale greening of the planet and draw attention to the biggest problem of the century — global climate change.
Greening the planet's mission is to plant 100 million trees around the planet and change the eco-consciousness of people around the world to respect nature. The goal is to draw attention to the problems of ecology and restoration of the planet's ecosystem, to form a positive image of Ukraine in the world through a collective success story and uniting the people of the planet around the fight against global environmental challenges.
During the action, participants planted named trees. Each region of Ukraine and each country chose certain types of trees inherent in their regions/countries and dedicated their planting to war heroes, the theme of peace, friendship, family, and the restoration of abandoned recreation areas.
"This action is beneficial for both the present and the future. It is enjoyable that its scale is rapidly expanding. I hope that this will be a truly planetary measure, which will change people's attitude to the environment and make them think about the future," says Yuriy Bolokhovets, head of the State agency for forest resources of Ukraine (central executive authority of Ukraine for forestry, hunting, hunting and hunting dog breeding).
Yuriy Bolokhovets noted that similar action was held in Ukraine last year, and then it brought together many people of different ages, different fields of activity. The event was very successful.
