The cabinet of ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution on the creation of a Single state register of animals. The register will operate in the portal of public services Diia and the first stage will contain information about cats and dogs. A list of other pets, like lizards, parrots, Guinea pigs etc, which may be entered into the database will be expanded. Here the pet parents will get the possibility to create electronic passports, report a found or lost animal, to control vaccination and sterilisation of animals on the official level. The info may be applied independently or with the help of a public or private veterinarian. This service will be free of charge. Thus, in Ukraine develops a culture of healthy keeping pets, reducing the number of homeless and sick animals.
This option would have been immensely useful when, at the beginning of a full-scale invasion, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians fled from the war with their pets to Poland, Romania and other cross-border states.
