The initiative is being spearheaded by Vodafone in collaboration with Nokia.
This milestone was announced by Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science, and Technologies, and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
"Promprylad Innovation Center in Ivano-Frankivsk, Vodafone office in Kyiv, as well as Nokia office in Helsinki called using 5G and checked the quality of communication. Everything works! 5G is now available in more than 90 countries around the world. We have to innovate and catch up with the world, even in the face of full-scale war. Thanks to our partners - Vodafone and Nokia - for an important step towards the introduction of 5G. I hope that we will be able to scale the technology very soon," said Fedorov.
He added that the European Union aims to cover all cities and main roads with 5G by 2025, highlighting the importance of Ukraine keeping pace with global technological developments.
This test launch represents a crucial step forward for Ukraine's digital infrastructure, positioning the country alongside other nations that have already adopted this advanced technology.
