Israel began producing Merkava tanks in the 1970s. During all this time, not a single tank was transferred for use to another state. However, on June 15, Reuters reported that Israel had agreed to sell more than 200 tanks of this model to Europe. According to the Israeli media resource Walla, Ukraine and Poland appear among the buyers.
Yair Kulas, head of the IsraelidDefense Ministry's export directorate, confirmed "extended negotiations" on the transfer of tanks to Europe. However, so far, the minister cannot name a specific country.
"I am forbidden to name them, but one is on the European continent," Yair Kulas.
Delivery times are accelerated so the country in need receives its weapons within 3 months.
"The world is chasing systems, and manufacturing processes take time. But not everyone has time to wait," added Yair Kulas. And this definition exactly fits Ukraine because we don't have time to wait.
