Poltava, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad and Vinnytsia regions have Ukraine’s strongest natural crop potential because of extensive chernozem soils with high humus content, favorable structure and substantial nutrient reserves.
Other productive areas
Parts of Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk also show strong results where fertile soils are combined with irrigation and modern cultivation. These advantages support grain and oilseed output and strengthen Ukraine’s export position.
Fertility requires protection
Natural quality does not remove production risk. Intensive cultivation without crop rotation, balanced nutrition, erosion control and moisture conservation can degrade even valuable black soil. Long-term competitiveness therefore depends on measuring soil condition and protecting organic matter.
For agricultural investors, soil potential should be evaluated together with climate exposure, water, logistics, land management and technology. Regions that combine fertile land with disciplined agronomy are best positioned to sustain yields through difficult seasons.
