Ukraine Needs Submarines

Ukrainian parliament chairman asked Germany for submarines

On 3 June, parliament chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk met with German defense minister Kristina Lambrecht. The politicians discussed the current situation and future cooperation. Ukraine is ready to cooperate with Germany in the defense sphere now and in the future. The German minister spoke about the admiration for the courage and skill of the Ukrainian soldiers, who are currently undergoing exercises in Idar-Oberstein.

But the most detailed consideration was given to the issue of arms deliveries and further support to Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.

"We will continue to do everything to support Ukraine, not only at this time but also in the long term because a well-educated, well-trained army is a guarantee of the security of the future of your country and others," Kristina Lambrecht said.

The Ukrainian politician once again recalled that the life of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians depends on the speed of the supply of weapons. Stefanchuk asked as soon as possible to provide Ukraine with IRIS-T missile defense systems. Also, Ukraine said that it needs submarines.

Note that the Russian Federation stole a diesel-electric submarine from Ukraine when it annexed Crimea.

"I do not rule out the possibility of German submarines, because we are ready to become the defense eastern border of all Europe. And this cooperation will be mutually beneficial both at this stage and in the future," said Stefanchuk during the meeting.
