Ukraine Opens Its First Erythrocyte Bank

The bank for long-term red blood cells storage was launched in Kyiv

Kyiv city council reported on opening of an important branch of blood warehouses – it is the first country’s long-term red blood cell storage bank. For this purpose, the capital of Ukraine bought a lot of modern equipment. One of them is the machine for automatic freezing and erythrocyte defrosting, storage freezers and a device for quality control.

This contribution to media development is an essential step for Ukraine. It is noted that the Russian war has made the need for separate blood components even more critical. That is why creating a blood bank in such a way became vital for the preservation of the life of people and soldiers.

Now Ukraine will supply rare blood group erythrocytes. This will solve the deficit connected with different features of blood. Also, different components of blood can be stored for more than 30 years. Therefore, Ukrainian doctors will be able to help patients in case of urgent and extraordinary events.

Ukraine continues to develop despite everything. The war has only accelerated some processes of development.
