On December 2, the government of Ukraine announced the receipt of $1.5 billion in the state budget. The funds are the first part of the total grant fund of $4.5 billion. The funds were provided through the World Bank Trust fund under the project Public expenditure support for sustainable public administration in Ukraine.
A variety of international donors has sponsored the fund. The grant will be aimed at covering the social sector of Ukraine: the payment of pensions and social assistance (restructuring the payment of utility bills, assistance to low-income and large families, and support for the disabled and internally displaced persons. Of course, the requests of the Ukrainian medical sector will be covered separately.
The Pentagon announced a $400 million military aid package to Ukraine earlier.
