On December 20, the Ministry of finance of Ukraine announced the receipt of $2 billion in grant funds within the American project Public expenditure support framework to ensure sustainable public administration in Ukraine. The total grant assistance from the World Bank trust fund is $4.5 billion, of which Ukraine received $1.5 billion on December 3.
The Ministry reports that the funds will be used to support urgent social projects (pensions/salaries, medical care etc). Given that this aid package is a grant package, it will support Ukrainians and reduce Ukraine's debt strain.
As of February 24, Ukraine received $12 billion from the US through grants. Therefore, the United States is the most potent donor to Ukraine in this difficult time.
