8 months ago, Russia attacked Ukraine. Millions of people lost their homes, and even more people went abroad. But internally displaced persons and refugees are demanding help, as most of them are left with one bag or documents in their hands. Thus, more than a dozen countries have provided humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians in the form of temporary housing, free food, and even social transfers. According to the United Nations:
- 41.8% of Ukrainians have found shelter in Poland;
- 20.7 % in Germany;
- 12.9% in the Czech Republic;
- 4.6 % in Italy;
- 4.3 % in Spain;
- 4% in Bulgaria;
- 3.9% in the UK;
- 3.1 % in France;
- 2.4 % in Austria;
- 2.3% in the Netherlands.
Ukrainians receive humanitarian aid at home and abroad. Since the first days of the war, the countries that support Ukraine sent medicines, clothes, food, toys, etc. Foreign humanitarian aid amounted to €14 billion for the entire war period. The government and the people of the United States of America provided the most significant amount of aid. They transferred €9.49 billion to Ukraine.
European Union institutions provided €950 million in humanitarian aid. Several countries systematically send humanitarian aid to Ukrainians. Among them:
- Austria — €0.55 billion;
- Germany — €0.95 billion;
- Britain — €0.37 billion;
- Canada — €0.30 billion;
- France — €0.14 billion;
- Belgium — €0.12 billion;
- Czech Republic — €0.11 billion;
- Switzerland — €0.10 billion.
Humanitarian aid from other countries and small institutions reaches almost €900 million.
