Ukraine Received “Skynex” Air Defence Systems 

On April 26 was announced about "Skynex" in the service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The prime minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine received the Skynex short-range air defence systems manufactured by Rheinmetall Italia S.p.A. The systems are deployed to create an air shield over Ukraine, as they are effective against various types of air targets at a distance of up to 4 km: aircraft, MLRS, cruise missiles, mortar shells and drones.

"We are expanding the horizons of cooperation between Ukraine and Italy in the military industry. We are considering the possibility of joint production of components of these systems. We are working on having more such effective air defence systems. They will create a reliable shield around our strategic infrastructure facilities," Denys Shmyhal.

Complete set of Skynex of the Armed Forces of Ukraine:

  • X-Band tracking radar with an autonomous target search function;
  • Infrared camera;
  • Surveillance camera;
  • Laser rangefinder;
  • Programmable ammunition Ahead with 152 or 600 submunitions;
  • 35-mm automatic cannon Oerlikon Mk3;
  • 4 Mk3 guns;
  • X-TAR3D or MSU radars;
  • Management and control system

The equipment is mounted on a stationary platform or a military truck. The target detection range is 30-50 km, and the rate of fire is 1.000 rounds per minute. Skynex systems were provided to Ukraine as part of European military support during a full-scale Russian war against Ukraine.
