Ukraine has moved to open a new export channel for soybean meal to China by submitting the required technical questionnaire to Beijing for market access evaluation, the State Food and Consumer Protection Service (SF&CPS) confirmed.
As part of wider agri-export expansion efforts, Ukrainian authorities also noted that protocols for the export of edible oils to China have already been finalised and are now available for review.
At a meeting with members of the European Business Association, SF&CPS Head Serhiy Tkachuk emphasised that, despite martial law, veterinary and phytosanitary checks remain operational — serving not only health and safety goals but also curbing shadow trade.
Ukraine is also accelerating digital customs and certificate processing through platforms such as:
-
TRACES NT — enabling rapid data exchange with the European Commission;
-
PHIS “Exporter’s Office” — a new portal for electronic phytosanitary certification designed to reduce paperwork and speed up export logistics.
Investment signal:
Soybean meal presents a value-added export opportunity beyond traditional grain supply, especially amid China’s growing demand for high-protein animal feed. Coupled with digital certification and veterinary reforms, Ukraine is positioning itself as a more dependable supplier to high-standard markets in Asia and Europe.
