Simplified Procedures for Private Oil and Gas Companies
According to Shmyhal, the Cabinet approved a decision that simplifies the procedures for private oil and gas companies. Specifically, it streamlines the processes for:
-
Arranging energy storage facilities;
-
Constructing infrastructure necessary to connect to the gas transportation system of Ukraine.
"We are maximally simplifying procedures for private oil and gas companies. This decision will speed up domestic gas production," Shmyhal stated on Telegram.
The move is part of Ukraine's broader strategy to boost energy independence and enhance national resilience amid ongoing challenges.
$70 Million from the World Bank for Solar Projects
The Prime Minister also highlighted the outcome of a recent government delegation’s working visit to the United States. As part of the trip, Ukraine signed an energy agreement with the World Bank.
Under the agreement:
-
Ukraine will receive $70 million in additional financing.
-
The funds will be allocated to Ukrhydroenergo for the purchase of solar panels and battery storage systems for four generation facilities.
-
The total capacity of the new facilities will exceed 230 MW.
"This will significantly strengthen our generation capacity and help ensure stable energy supply," Shmyhal emphasized.
Broader Energy Support
Shmyhal also reminded that in 2023, Ukraine secured a €200 million aid package from the Italian government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the restoration of the hydropower sector.
-
The first tranche of €50 million from this package has already been received.
These initiatives reflect Ukraine’s commitment to modernizing its energy sector, expanding renewable energy sources, and reinforcing critical infrastructure to ensure energy security.
