Ukraine Strengthens Agricultural Partnership with the United States

Talks with USDA officials focused on expanding exports of Ukrainian poultry, eggs, meat, corn, and queen bees to the American market

Strategic Working Visit

The Head of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine, Serhiy Tkachuk, has completed a working trip to the United States, where he held meetings with representatives of three divisions of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The discussions centered on boosting bilateral trade in agricultural products, opening new export opportunities, and ensuring compliance with fair trade practices.

Expanding Market Access for Poultry and Eggs

During the meeting with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), the focus was on replacing Russian and Chinese products in the American market with Ukrainian goods.

  • Priority export products: poultry and eggs.

  • Ukraine stressed readiness to undergo inspections and highlighted its experience with similar processes in the UK, Canada, and EU.

Meat Products: Pork and Beef in Focus

Talks with the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) addressed:

  • Access for poultry meat and eggs to the US market;

  • Applications for Ukrainian pork and beef exports.

The US side acknowledged Ukraine’s progress and confirmed readiness for technical consultations.

Plant and Animal Health Cooperation

A separate meeting with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) focused on:

  • The epizootic situation and disease risk assessment;

  • Inspections and virtual consultations;

  • Applications for access of Ukrainian corn and queen bees to the American market.

Ukraine confirmed its readiness to promptly provide all necessary data and actively engage in the process.

Why It Matters

This dialogue is part of a broader strategy to:

  • Diversify Ukrainian agricultural exports;

  • Strengthen US-Ukraine trade ties;

  • Ensure Ukrainian producers gain new footholds in global markets despite wartime challenges.
