Joint steps with EU and NATO partners
Ukraine has officially confirmed its participation in the European Commission’s Drone Wall initiative, a project aimed at creating a new level of defense cooperation against the Russian drone threat.
The announcement followed a high-level meeting attended by the defense ministers of Denmark, Finland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, as well as NATO representatives. The participants discussed concrete steps for implementation, with a joint declaration expected in October.
Ukraine’s role: expertise and industry support
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense stated that Kyiv is ready to play an active role in building the system, offering:
-
deployment of technical teams to train operational groups within the Drone Wall;
-
transfer of practical expertise in intercepting and neutralizing Russian drones;
-
integration of Ukrainian manufacturers, whose technologies have already been tested in combat conditions.
“Ukraine is a recognized leader in the field of unmanned technologies. We are ready to share the experience of shooting down Russian drones with the EU, NATO and neighboring countries,” the Ministry noted.
What is the Drone Wall?
The Drone Wall is envisioned as a pan-European defense ecosystem that will:
-
combine technical systems for drone detection and interception,
-
establish rapid-response groups across participating states,
-
create a coordination mechanism to synchronize actions against hybrid and unmanned threats.
Strategic importance
The initiative comes amid a growing wave of drone provocations across Europe, particularly in Denmark, Poland, and the Baltic states. Officials stressed that joint, coordinated defense is the only effective way to mitigate risks.
Representatives of the European Commission and NATO praised Ukraine’s readiness to contribute, emphasizing that the integration of Ukrainian combat-tested solutions will significantly strengthen Europe’s resilience against future threats.
✅ This positions Ukraine not only as a beneficiary of European defense projects, but as a core contributor and technology provider.
