The Ukrainian oil and gas company Naftogaz has declared severe intentions regarding the external market and development. The Reuters newspaper reports that the head of the Naftogaz board, Yurii Vitrenko intends to increase fuel production to warm the European countries with Ukrainian gas in the next heating season. This issue and the target setting are now principled for the country, as the Russian attack on Ukraine is supported by gas supplies to other countries. Moreover, the Russian Federation considers all the countries that supported Ukraine in this war to be wrong, therefore restricting their gas supplies.
Analytics note that in the future, it is possible to consider the production of shale gas in Ukraine, which will be able to cover the needs of Europe. But president Naftogaz is now considering another option — biofuels. According to Yurii Vitrenko, in Ukraine, producing 10 billion m3 of gas from biomass is possible. But so far, it is only a project, and for its implementation, it is necessary to attract investment in the Ukrainian gas sector and economy.
