On February 2, the president of the European Commission and the president of Ukraine gave a joint press conference after a closed session. Ursula von der Leyen said that Ukraine has received an invitation to join the joint European gas purchases.
"We are inviting Ukraine to our energy platform for the joint purchase of gas. We want to make the best use of the overall market power," Ursula von der Leyen.
The president of the European Commission added: "Today we are making sure that Putin pays for this brutal war." Therefore, on the anniversary of the Russian full-scale attack on Ukraine, the 10th package of sanctions will be introduced against Russia. Sanctions cost Russia €160 million daily, and the vise will continue to tighten.
"We will add another price cap for oil products with partners from the G7," Ursula von der Leyen.
The president of the European Commission claims that Russia will pay for the pain and destruction it has caused to Ukraine and its citizens.
"It (Russia — ed.) will have to give funds for reconstruction. We decide how to do it," concluded Ursula von der Leyen.
