The volume rose by over 25% compared to the same period last year, amounting to an additional 9.9 million tons. The total value of these exports increased by $1.4 billion.
Export Volumes and Values
According to the State Customs Service, Ukraine exported 48.9 million tons of agricultural products worth $10.5 billion in the first three quarters of 2024.
Reasons Behind the Export Increase
The primary factor contributing to this growth is the restoration of maritime communication. Currently, 89% of Ukraine's total agricultural exports are conducted via sea transport.
- Maritime Transport: Enabled the substantial increase in export capacity.
- Land Transport: Exporters prefer rail over road, with only 2% of goods moved by road transport.
"Thanks to renewed maritime routes, we've significantly boosted our export volumes," stated a representative from the State Customs Service.
