The Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation celebrates the successful issuance of more than 20,000 residence permits through the Diya application over the past two years

Project Success and Government Support

Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technologies, and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, announced the milestone achievement during the She Congress 2024 in Kyiv. He highlighted that the Diya application has become a cornerstone in Ukraine’s digital transformation, facilitating efficient and secure issuance of residence permits.

Transition to Electronic IDs

With the Cabinet of Ministers' approval, Ukraine is set to fully integrate electronic IDs, making physical documents optional. The Diya card allows users to:

  • Create Diya.Signature: A digital signature for official transactions.
  • Access State Services: Utilize various government services directly from smartphones.
  • Send ID Copies Easily: Simplify processes by sending ID card copies through the Diya app.

Introducing the u-Residency Program

Building on the success of Diya, the Ministry of Digital Transformation is launching the u-Residency program. This initiative aims to:

  • Facilitate Business Operations: Enable foreigners to open and manage businesses online in Ukraine.
  • Streamline Tax Payments: Provide a seamless system for paying taxes digitally.
  • Enhance IT Ecosystem: Foster a competitive environment for the IT sector, attracting international entrepreneurs and investments.

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

The USAID project "Investments for Business Sustainability," supported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, focuses on empowering women entrepreneurs. With $93 million allocated, the project has already supported 800 SMEs with $63 million, creating significant job opportunities and boosting economic growth.

Global Recognition

Ukraine's advancements in digital public services have earned it a 5th place ranking in the Online Services Index of the E-Government Development Index, showcasing the country's commitment to embracing digital innovation and improving public service delivery.
