Ukraine’s Growing Demand for Electric Cars

Demand for EVs in January 2023 doubled compared to the same time last year

In the first month of 2023, almost 1.300 cars were brought to the Ukrainian fleet. All of them have rechargeable power supplies. This means that the demand for eco-cars has increased almost twice in comparison with January 2022. It should be noted that the share of new machines increased by 3% – from 20% to 23%. It should be noted that despite the challenging year, Ukrainians in 2022 bought 13.600 cars on battery power supplies.

It is expected that demand will grow in 2023. Currently, 97% of passenger cars are registered among 1.300 cars, and 3% are commercial cars. Also, Ukraine has already bought 1 electric bus. The most popular model in Ukraine was Volkswagen ID.4. During the first month of the year, 130 new and 145 used machines received Ukrainian registration.

Ukrainians also actively bought in January:

  • Nissan Leaf (171 cars);
  • Tesla Model 3 (108);
  • Dong Feng (Honda) M-NV (104);
  • Tesla Model Y (64);
  • Renault Kangoo Z.E. (16).

Renault Kangoo Z.E. is not for the first time becoming the most popular car in the electric commercial vehicle segment.
