The Ukrainian company "Scientific and Production Enterprise Energo-Plus" has announced plans to purchase a closed thermal power plant (TPP) located in a neighboring country, with the intention of relocating it to Ukraine. The project is estimated to cost EUR 50 million, according to Yevhen Korf, the director of the enterprise.
The TPP, built between 2016 and 2018, was never commissioned due to a rise in natural gas prices in the host country. Despite being 90% complete, all the necessary components are available in the station's inventory. The plant has a high efficiency rate and an installed capacity of 60 MW, featuring top-tier equipment, including Rolls-Royce turbines, Siemens generators, and Alstom transformers.
Energo-Plus has already secured partners with experience in installing such facilities. The company is prepared to begin dismantling the station, packing the equipment, and transporting it to Ukraine, where it will be reassembled. The entire process of relocation and installation is expected to take between 8 to 12 months, potentially providing a significant boost to Ukraine's energy infrastructure during a critical time.
