Promin Aerospace is a Ukrainian aerospace startup for the delivery of useful cargo on orbit with the help of the most miniature solid-fuel rocket, created on January 21, 2021. The rocket is equipped with a unique motor that burns solid fuel rods during flight while being its body. The design will reduce the mass of the rocket itself and potentially increase the mass of useful loading. The engine is created with the help of additive technologies, and the mass of a rocket will be from 100 to 500 kg.
The company’s engineering team is engaged in creation with the involvement of experts from the main technical universities of Ukraine. The cost of running on the suborbital and the orbit is preliminarily estimated at $200.000.
For seven months, Promin Aerospace conducted 8 or 9 static fire tests of its solid-fuel engine, the latter at the end of 2021. They demonstrated that the engine was running. At present, there is a discussion with the state structures concerning conducting independent static fire tests in Ukraine in the next 2-6 months. The results obtained are the main indicator that the missile may fly in the nearest future.
Now the final calculations regarding the size of the engine are being made. The next step is to build a missile. With a working engine and technology, it becomes clear that it could go wrong. Therefore, the team plans the first suborbital flight by the end of this year and the beginning of commercial suborbital flights next year. The development of the flights, as mentioned above, will allow the company to build a missile on the same technology for the orbital flight and give investors confidence in the ability of the developers to carry out the orbital flight in 2024.
