Ukrainian wines win 73 medals at Decanter World Wine Awards

The result strengthens the country’s visibility in a global competition with thousands of entries

Ukrainian winemakers have achieved a strong result at Decanter World Wine Awards 2026, winning 73 medals and confirming that the country’s wine industry is gaining international recognition even under wartime pressure.

The competition is one of the world’s largest and most respected wine awards. This year it brought together more than seventeen thousand wines from 58 countries. The judging process was based on blind tasting by 245 sommeliers, critics, journalists and industry experts.

Quality under difficult conditions

According to the reported results, Ukrainian wines received Bronze and Silver level awards. For an industry working through disrupted logistics, security risks and investment constraints, the outcome is important not only as a marketing achievement but also as a signal of production maturity.

Decanter judges assess wines by aroma, taste, balance, structure, complexity and aging potential. That means recognition is not simply about national representation. It reflects how individual products perform against global standards and against producers from established wine regions.

The result can help Ukrainian wineries in export promotion, distributor talks and brand positioning. Wine remains a niche but visible part of Ukraine’s agricultural and food exports. Strong showings at international competitions can make it easier for producers to explain quality, terroir and resilience to foreign buyers.
