Ukrainians Sold 23,000 Hectares of Agricultural Land

With the opening of the land market in Ukraine, 10,683 acts of purchase and sale of land plots were registered

The largest number of sales was registered in the following regions:

  • Poltava — 2,700 hectares sold, 1,000 contracts signed;
  • Kharkovsky — 2,616 hectares sold, 684 contracts concluded;
  • Kirovograd — 2074 hectares, 555 contracts.

“Now almost 200 contracts are registered every day. The average size of a land plot is approximately 2 hectares, which corresponds to the average size of a land share in Ukraine,” said Kostiantyn Dzyuba, deputy minister of agrarian policy and food.

According to Dzyuba, such sales results by region correspond to the agricultural analytics of the Ministry, since these regions are the leaders of the agricultural market.

“This is in line with previous forecasts. After all, these regions are the leaders of the agricultural market. The analysis also shows that among the new owners about 4,400 unique buyers. The lion's share of transactions (up to 99%) is concluded by individuals. However, let's not forget that legal entities also have the opportunity to buy land. But this does not apply to the so-called "sub-moratorium" land (agricultural land)” commented Kostyantyn.

An increase in the pace of sales is observed because, by the end of July, only 6,6 thousand hectares of land were sold.

Recall that the Ukrainian land market opened on July 1, 2021. Until the age of 24, only citizens of Ukraine will be able to buy land, and from 25, subject to the adoption of an appropriate decision at a national referendum, and citizens of other countries.
