Ukrainians with Mental Disorders Will Receive Free Medicine

From October 1, within the framework of the state program "Affordable medicines", citizens with mental disorders will be able to receive drugs at the expense of the budget

According to the National Health Service of Ukraine, these are disorders such as epilepsy, schizophrenia, PTSD, depression, affective and neurotic disorders.

"From October 1, patients with mental and behavioral disorders will be able to receive these drugs free of charge or with a small surcharge in any pharmacy that operates under a contract with the National Health Service. The cost of such drugs will be reimbursed by the National Health Service of Ukraine," explains NHSU.

Obtaining medication under the state program requires a prescription, which can be obtained from a neurologist or psychiatrist. Prescriptions in the fields of "Mental and Behavioral Disorders" and "Nervous System Diseases" are not prescribed by family doctors, I remind the National health insurance fund.

"Individually, a neurologist or psychiatrist records the diagnosis and prescribes the appropriate medication. In the future, based on the individual treatment plan, an electronic prescription will be formed. With an electronic prescription, the patient chooses any pharmacy in any region of the country. the direction of reimbursement ", explained in NHSU.

More than 3 million Ukrainians already use the Affordable medicines program. In January 2021, the state covered medicines for almost UAH 592 million.
